However in 1 year, my Google Analytics shows me that I only received 342 visits from twitter.

Last December 2009, Google announced a new feature allowing real-time streams of updates from various social networks as well as headlines from news and blog posts published just seconds before to appear in its search results page.

“Our real-time search enables you to discover breaking news the moment it’s happening, even if it’s not the popular news of the day, and even if you didn’t know about it beforehand.”

In the days that followed, I noticed that fresh tweets from twitter are already included in the Google SERPs; and they have a high visibility because it is displayed at the top.

I realized that this should be a good source of traffic for my site and set out to conduct an experiment.

Since tweets can be up to 140 characters only, I decided to use bit.ly as my URL shortener for my experiment. It also has a tracking feature to know how many clicked on the links I tweeted.

So on April 10, 2010 during the airing of UFC 112 from Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates, I tried to direct traffic to my UFC 112 LIVE stream post by tweeting about the event. Since one of the trending search keywords during that hour was “UFC 112 live stream free”, I used that in my tweets for every fighter matchup. I highlighted the keywords below.

When I checked the Google SERPs for “UFC 112 live stream free”, there it is: my tweet appeared on the real time search result.

After the event, I checked my bit.ly stats and found out that for the duration of the event, the links I gave on my tweets have generated 1,033 clicks to my site. I think that’s not bad for 2 hours. I had 7,956 total visitors that day so that comprised around 13% of my total traffic which is not shabby either.

My conclusion?

Based on my experiment, I can say that twitter can be a good source of traffic.

However, this is not for everyone because only tweets from users with high twitter authority can appear on Google’s real-time search results. This is to prevent spamming.

Since Easter Sunday is fast approaching, it must be that people are already preparing for the kid’s Easter egg hunt.

In hard boiling an egg, the number one concern is time: for how long will you boil it in water?

To help you, here’s  a cooking method recommended by the American Egg Board:

1. Place eggs in a saucepot large enough to hold them in single layer. Add cold water to cover the eggs by 1 inch. Place pot over high heat and bring eggs just to boiling. Put a lid on the pot and remove it from the burner.

2. Let the eggs stand in the hot water 12 minutes for medium eggs, 15 minutes for large eggs and 18 minutes for extra-large eggs.

3. Drain immediately and serve eggs warm, or cool completely under cold running water or in a bowl of ice water and then refrigerate the eggs.

It’s that simple.

You can now paint and decorate those eggs with different colors and let the Easter egg hunt begin.

Facebok before is just a simple social web site where you can post your pictures and give your friends an update about you and vice-versa. You can also establish new friendship with total strangers.

Today, Facbook is getting so complicated with its hundreds of useless applications. I have no problem with my friends using them. However, it becomes a problem with me if they are littering my Faceboo wall with those applications which are actually becoming spammy.

So, if you’re like me who wants their walls to be spam-free, you can actually block Facebook applications from appearing again on your wall.

First way:

1. At your wall, click on the name of the application that you want to block.

2. At the application’s page, click on Block Application in the left corner.

3. You will be prompted with the message below. Simply click on Block For You.

4. That Facebook application is now permanently blocked and will not appear on your wall anymore.

Second way:

1.At your wall, click Block App on the application that you want to block.

2. You will be directed to the page below. Just click on Block friends from posting on my wall.

3. That Facebook application is now permanently blocked and will not appear on your wall anymore.

For good measure, you can remove those applications ALREADY posted on you wall with these steps:

1. In the upper right corner of the application, click on Remove.

2. You will be prompted with the message below. Simply click on Delete.

3. That’s it! Your wall is now free from those annoying Facebook applications!

If you’re concerned that you might be hurting your friend’s feelings by blocking their gifts, etc, don’t worry, they will not know it as no message will be given to them that you have done so.

Man, a basketball court’s size really pales in comparison to a football stadium. Even the giant monitor hanging from the rafters dwarfs the court!

The 2010 NBA All-Star Game set the record for the largest crowd ever to attend a basketball game with 108,713 people and it really helped that it was  held in a football stadium. Dwyane Wade was named MVP.
