NBA players surely are a pampered breed. They get million-dollar contracts, are very popular and living the high life. And when they do bag the ultimate goal which is to win a championship, they are given a bling-bling which makes us drool.
The Los Angeles Lakers opened the 2009-10 NBA Season with a pregame ceremony to receive their championship rings from NBA Commissioner David Stern prior to their first game of the season against crosstown rival Los Angeles Clippers. They earned their blings by defeating Dwight Howard and the Orlando Magic in the 2009 NBA Finals. And what a bling it is!
After the LA Lakers captured its 15th NBA title, Kobe Bryant his 4th championship ring and 1st Finals MVP Award and Phil Jackson his record 10th title as a coach, fans erupted into a riot in the streets of Los Angeles, California.
People vandalized and looted stores, overturned, jumped on and broke windshields of vehicles, set fire on trees, lit up fireworks and flares and threw rocks and bottles at everywhere. It was a scene from hell!
After the hoopla, at least 25 hooligans were arrested and some police officers were hurt. Below are some pictures of the raucous celebration.
The current NBA logo has been used since time immemorial. It is actually a silhouette of LA Lakers great Jerry West. He was even named as “The Logo” because of this although not while he was still playing. He was “Mr. Clutch” during his playing days.
Here’s purportedly Jerry West’s image where the logo was taken from.
LA Lakers veteran point guard Derek Fisher has been doing this all his playoff career. That is, hit three-point shots. In fact in the history of the NBA Finals, he is third all-time in most treys made behind Robert Horry and Michael Jordan. He is best well-known for hitting this amazing three-point shot with .4 second left in the shot clock.
In Game 4 of the NBA Finals, he did it again. Twice.
