Amare Stoudemire sets Knicks record for consecutive 30-point game

In a game against the Denver Nuggets today, Amare Stoudemire sets a franchise record for the New York Knicks with his eight consecutive 30-point game.

The previous Knicks’ record of seven straight 30-point games was set by Willie Naulls in 1962. During his eight-game run Stoudemire is averaging an insane 33.9 points on .584 shooting.

2010 NBA Free-Agent Signings | Amare Stoudemire to New York Knicks

Amar’e Stoudemire had agreed to play for the New York Knicks starting next season, thereby becoming the first high-profile free agent from the class of 2010 to switch teams.

The Phoenix Suns drafted him 9th overall in the 2002 NBA Draft and immediately made an impact despite jumping straight from high-school to become Rookie of the Year.

He was an NBA All-Star five times and a member of the All-NBA First Team once and Second Team thrice while making heads turn with his powerful dunks playing  eight years for the Suns.

2009-10 NBA Season | Amare Stoudemire Posterizes Anthony Tolliver

In a game against the Golden State Warriors last March 23, Amare Stoudemire threw down a monster one-handed in your face dunk against Anthony Tolliver.

Stoudemire took a pass from team mate Jason Richardson and made the  NBA’s dunk of the year. Heck, it might even contend for dunk of the decade. I think this one is better than the one he gave Michael Olowokandi last December 20, 2002.

NBA’s Best Dunks of the Decade

The decade will not end until December 31, 2010 but nevertheless, David Aldridge in his column at nba.com compiled a Best of the Decade list of all things related to NBA.
