After the series of trailers used to advertise Kobe Bryant’s movie titled “The Black Mamba”, the ‘movie’ finally had its world premiere on Saturday, February 19.
It was released in conjunction with the NBA’s All-Star Weekend festivities.
The six-minute movie is actually a commercial for Kobe’s new line of shoes, the Nike Zoom Kobe VI.
As part of the NBA’s All-Star Weekend festivities on February 19, the day before the All-Star Game at Staples Center in Los Angeles, California, USA, Kobe Bryant will become the first athlete to have a hand and foot print ceremony at Grauman’s Chinese Theater in Hollywood [NBA.com News].
He is not a Hollywood actor but that is set to change because Kobe had filmed a “movie” with Bruce Willis, Kanye West and Machete star Danny Trejo. It was directed by the renowned Robert Rodriguez.
There are those famous enough to be known by a single name. People like Shaq, Madonna, Houdini and Shakespeare.
Add Kobe to that list. His full name is actually Kobe Bean Bryant but the mere mention of his first name will associate anyone to the LA Lakers superstar guard.
Why, he’s even more famous than his namesake, the prime Kobe beef that I wonder why he would even need a nickname.
Yes, he has one. It’s “The Black Mamba”. And it was Kobe who gave it to himself.
Before the Mickey Mouse series has started, the prevailing question was — who can defend Superman Dwight Howard?
After one game, the question should now be — who can defend Kobe Bryant?
Dwight Howard finished with 12 points but got 10 of them when he is not guarded, at the free-throw line. He was contained in a 1 of 6 shooting night by Pau Gasol and Andrew Bynum. As a believer, I can’t believe how Dwight was effectively taken out of his comfort zone by the Lakers duo. It also did not help that the Orlando Magic shooters clanged their jumpers all night long shooting at a woeful 29.9% (23 of 77) clip with their most potent weapon, the three-point bomb failing to hit its target 15 times out of 23 attempts.
