Unprecedented in television history, True Colors from General Santos City bagged the top prize in the Grand Finals of of ABS-CBN’s Showtime All-Star Barangayan last May 14, 2011 held at the Yñares Sports Center in Antipolo City.
This makes it two consecutive years for a group from this southern city in Mindanao to claim the top spot after XB GenSan became the first winner last year.

The Yñares Sports Center was virtually filled with tens after XB GenSan’s performance.
Even judges Vice Ganda and Jhong Hilario can’t contain their excitement and admiration for the group.
As the only group from Mindanao, XB GenSan from General Santos City bested 10 other finalists to become the first winner of ABS-CBN’s Showtime in its Grand Finals last July 24, 2010 held at the Yñares Sports Center in Antipolo City.
When I visited Robinson’s Place GenSan’s soft opening last Wednesday, I dropped by the Team Pacquiao store owned by Filipino boxing icon Manny Pacquiao and I was able to take a snap shot of this Pacman bobblehead doll.
I was at Gen. Santos City today to ferry my boss there. Since it was already lunch time when we arrived, we decided to proceed to Robinson’s Place which coincidentally had its soft opening.
Working for GEM’s CLIC (Computer Literacy and Internet Connection) component has allowed me to travel to places in Mindanao I wouldn’t have the chance to if I wasn’t employed under the program.
I work in the field as a Technical Specialist for the provinces of Cotabato, Maguindanao and Sultan Kudarat. Since 2004, I have managed to visit all the municipalities under them except Buldon in Maguindanao and Palimbang in Sultan Kudarat. I call them my last frontiers. Last August 2008, I was able to visit Buldon to look for possible recipient schools for our program. Since then, I have gone to the place at least five times already. On the other hand, I haven’t had the chance to go to Palimbang because I yielded the place to my companion Dandy who is in charge of South Cotabato and Sarangani. It was because even if the municipality is part of Sultan Kudarat, its geographical location was nearer to Sarangani (and to Dandy); sort of being orphaned from the rest of its siblings.
Leaving no doubt on who is the “Best Pound-for Pound Boxer in the World”, Manny “Pacman” Pacquiao lulled Ricky “Hitman” Hatton to sleep via a 2nd round knock-out during their “Battle of the East and West” bout at the MGM Grand Garden Arena, Las Vegas, Nevada, USA.
Before sending Hatton to dreamland, Pacquio gave him a brutal beating in the 1st round with two knockdowns.
By winning the bout, Manny wrestled away Ricky’s IBO and Ring Magazine junior-welterweight championship belts. He has now won five world titles in five different weight divisions! He also improved his record to 49-3-2 with 37 wins coming via KO.
