Phil Jackson, the winningest coach in NBA history with 11 NBA titles has always told media that this will be his final season in the NBA.
What an embarrassing way to end his Hall of Fame career though.
With his team’s season and quest for his fourth three-peat on the line, Jackson’s LA Lakers took on the Dallas Mavericks at their home court for Game 4 of their Western Conference Semifinal series down 3-0.
While no NBA team has ever came back from that deficit to win a series, Kobe Bryant promised before the game that there will be a major turnaround this time.
It was empty though as Kobe just managed 17 points on an awful 7 of 18 shooting, Lamar Odom and Andrew Bynum got ejected for their needless flagrant fouls and Pau Gasol continues his softness as the Mavericks got the blowout win, 122-86.

With his second free-throw in the second quarter of a 101-87 victory over the Atlanta Hawks today, Kobe Bryant has surpassed Mose Malone’s 27, 409 points to move into 6th place in the NBA’s all-time scoring list.
In the process, The Black Mamba have also surpassed Oscar Robertson, John Havlicek, Hakeem Olajuwon and Elvin Hayes just two months after he entered the top ten in January.
Playing in his 15th season, Kobe currently has amassed 27,423 points.
The truly entertaining countdown now begins as next on the list is former best buddy Shaquille O’Neal currently in 5th spot with 28,590 career points and counting.
If Kobe keeps up on his current pace of 25.1 points per game, he will likely one-up Shaq even more to move to fourth place.
When that happens, he can finally say that he is not lingering in Shaq’s shadow anymore.
