There really is a twist to the remake of the classic McDonald’s “The Showdown” commercial between Michael Jordan and Larry Bird in 1993 as they fight over a Big Mac.
After the remake preview, I predicted that Lebron James and Dwight Howard will try to out stand each other in a dunking game instead of a shooting game.
Lebron James of the Cleveland Cavaliers and Dwight Howard shot a commercial for McDonalds showing them engaging in a game of H-O-R-S-E.
It has not been officially released yet but as shown in the preview released by McDonald’s, it is a remake of the classic “showdown” between Michael Jordan and Larry Bird in 1993 as they fight over a Big Mac.
I think the one between Lebron and Dwight will have a twist to it. Knowing the leaping ability and dunking prowess of these two superstars, they might dunk the ball instead of shooting it.
In his column at nba.com, David Aldridge compiled a Best of the Decade list of all things related to NBA.
Aside from the Dunks of the Decade, one of those mentioned was the Best Individual Performance of the Decade. Actually, he has three finalists worth mentioning.
TMZ has released this video showing NBA superstar Lebron James getting dunked on by 6′4″ college kid Jordan Crawford during a pick-up game at Nike’s LeBron James Skills Academy at the University of Akron. The video is of poor quality and might be taken using a cellphone.
After bagging his 1st NBA MVP Award this season, Lebron James rightfully added the prestigious 2009 ESPY Awards Best NBA Player category to his trophy case. The ESPY (Excellence in Sports Performance Yearly) Awards AKA ESPYs is an annual sports event created by TV network ESPN honoring various individuals and teams for their achievements.
However, Lebron is a no-show at the 17th ESPY Awards ceremony held Wednesday night at the Nokia Theater in Los Angeles, California hosted by Samuel L. Jackson. Kobe Bryant who battled it out with Lebron for the award was present with his hot wife Vanessa Laine and Los Angeles Lakers teammates to receive the award for the Best Team category.
A viral video is supposed to spread like wildfire gaining fame and attention. So, when a video was taken of Jordan Crawford’s dunk on Lebron James during a pick-up game at Nike’s LeBron James Skills Academy at the University of Akron, it seems we have an instant classic. After all, it’s very rare for an unknown college student from an unknown university (Xavier University) to give “The King” his own version of a flush. The kid is 6′4″ and the king is 6′8″.
Except that there’s no video. Well, apparently there WAS.
For some reasons, Lebron James or Nike or whoever asked for the videos to be taken from the two guys who caught the dunk on tape. I don’t know what happened to the tapes but they might have been destroyed. It was confiscated to protect Lebron James.
