Another great NBA center has retired.
Last month, Shaquille O’Neal announced on twitter his retirement after dominating the NBA for 19 years.
Today, the 7″6′ Yao Ming has decided to retire after eight seasons playing for the Houston Rockets where he became literally and figuratively the largest symbol of the NBA’s growing expansion around the world and particularly in Asia.

Shaquille O’Neal announced his intention to retire from playing basketball on twitter last June 1, 2011.
This day, he made it official with a press conference.
That one was filled with laughter from the crowd that gathered as Shaq made light of the moment even though he is now retiring from the sports he dominated for the better part of 19 years.

On May 31, the Miami Heat and the Dallas Mavericks will begin the American Airlines Series – The Rematch.
So-called because both teams play on arenas built by airline carrier American Airlines, this Finals marks a rematch of the 2006 Finals, won by Miami in six games.

After a grueling 82 games undertaken by the NBA’s 30 teams for the 2009-10 NBA season, the 2010 NBA Playoffs is finally here.
Only sixteen teams get the chance to participate in the offseason and battle it our for the ultimate prize, an NBA championship ring.
The 2010 NBA Playoff schedule and dates were announced on April 15th at 3PM ET.
The first round best of seven series is set to begin on April 17, Saturday (Sunday here in the Philippines).

Josh Smith is widely considered as one of the most athletic NBA players today.
Possessing a vertical leap of 40 inches, he is one of the best shot blockers in history even though he is only 6’9″. In fact, on February 2, 2010 against the Oklahoma City Thunders, Smith became the youngest and fastest player (at 24 years old) to block 1,000 shots.
He can also jump high in the air to make slam dunks with the best of them as proven with him being crowned the 2005 NBA Slam Dunk champion.
However, his athleticism was best put into use during a game against the Orlando Magic today.
