After three losses in four fights in the 155 lbs. division with the most recent against Gray “The Bully” Maynard in the main event of UFC Fight Night 20 , Nate Diaz decided to move up in weight to the 170 lbs. welterweight weight class.
In one of the preliminary cards for UFC 111 last March 27, 2010, he made his welterweight debut against Rory Markham who missed the 170 lbs. limit coming in at a heavy 177 lbs.
No problem. Diaz accepted the fight at a 177 lbs. catchweight and then proceeded to bring Markham to the ground quickly and rained punches on him at 2:47 of the very first round.
