If you have been playing Contra on the Family Computer (or NES) game console during your younger days, you must be familiar with the 30 Lives Code.

Contra (we used to call it Rambo) is a relatively hard game for a beginner so in order for us to beat the game, we have a cheat that makes our standard 3 lives become 30. The cheat code can be activated by pressing the following sequence of buttons on your game controller at the game’s title screen:
UP – UP – DOWN – DOWN – LEFT – RIGHT – LEFT – RIGHT – B – A

On November 10, 1969, the TV show Sesame Street had its premiere episode. Fast forward to today, the show is still going strong and is in fact celebrating its 40th year of providing fun and entertainment to children all over the world.
To honor the longest running children’s program on US television, Google brought together its ensemble of Muppets at their homepage as a doodle.

This is the culmination of the week-long series of doodles featuring Sesame Street characters by Google.

There are those famous enough to be known by a single name. People like Shaq, Madonna, Houdini and Shakespeare.
Add Kobe to that list. His full name is actually Kobe Bean Bryant but the mere mention of his first name will associate anyone to the LA Lakers superstar guard.
Why, he’s even more famous than his namesake, the prime Kobe beef that I wonder why he would even need a nickname.
Yes, he has one. It’s “The Black Mamba”. And it was Kobe who gave it to himself.

If you happen to visit Google’s homepage today, you will notice that its logo is replaced by a series of vertical lines parallel to each other.
Yes, that is a doodle of a barcode.

Fifty-seven years ago, on October 7, 1952 to be exact; US Patent 2,612,994 was issued to Norman Joseph Woodland and Bernard Silver thereby recognizing them as the owners and inventors of the barcode.

Yahoo! Answers is an online community managed by Yahoo! where users can both answer and submit questions on unlimited range of topics. It is one of the most popular Internet reference site aside from Wikipedia.
It has a system of points and levels to encourage participation and reward great answers. The more points you accumulate, the higher your level will be. It is good to provide a very informative and useful answer as there’s a chance that it will be voted as the Best Answer which will give you an automatic 10 points and will be positioned directly below the question.
I have been a member since August 22, 2007 and had reached level 3 with 1,377 points as of October 6, 2009. 36% of my answers were voted as the Best Answer. Below is my profile.

Google has featured today in its homepage a doodle of a bald man with a moustache.
That man is Mohandas Karamchand Gandhi who is celebrating is 140th birth anniversary. He was born on October 2, 1869 at Porbandar, a coastal town in present-day Gujarat, India.

He is officially honored as the “Father of the Indian Nation”. He is popularly known as Mahatma meaning, “great soul”.
