This reminded me of Manny Pacquiao knocking out Ricky Hatton.
The knockout punch, the round where it ended, and how it ended; all were almost similar.
At round 2 of their scheduled 12 round bout, Sergio Martinez used a devastating left hook to put Paul Williams to sleep.
Williams lay motionless on the canvas for about 30 seconds in a not so thrilling end to his rematch with Martinez at the Boardwalk Hall, Atlantic City, New Jersey, USA.
This was supposed to be a Fight of the Year candidate with the two of them going toe-to-toe with each other like what happened with their first meeting.
Apparently, the man nicknamed Maravilla (Marvel) had other plans. He was still punished for his loss to the Punisher last December 5, 2009 so he made sure to make a statement this night. After all, he is the reigning WBC and The Ring World Middleweight Champion and will not want to surrender his throne in his first title defense.
The Martinez vs Williams 2 rematch might not be a Fight of the Year candidate but the knockout surely is in the running for Knockout of the Year.
With the win, Sergio Martinez hopes to create demand for a potential matchup with the WBC junior middleweight champion Manny Pacquiao who is coming off a 12-round demolition of Antonio Margarito last November 13, 2010.

I think Manny can handle Martinez. That would be an exciting fight.

No, Manny can’t. Si Martinez na mismo ang nagsabi na Manny Pacquiao is too small for him. He even said that it would be a mismatch.

But I think if martinez will go down at 147. I’m sure pacquiao will knock him out.

Hmm, I don”t think so. Yes, Martinez might weigh 147 lbs. at the weigh-in but at fight night, he usually weighs at 160lbs. or higher.
Pacquiao will not knock him out but Manny will surely win via Unanimous Decision.

Cguro puede na rin via unanimous decision as long as it is convincing. Just like what he did to Margarito.
